Nobody likes failing. We hate it. We want to succeed both in our professional and personal lives. We want people to appreciate our success and close their eyes if we fail. But that seldom happens. But failures in life are inevitable and important. Yes failures are important. Here are my reasons —
1. If you are failing that means you are taking risks, doing something in which you are not good at. Which in turn means you are learning something new.
2. Success hides our flaws. Failure exposes it — publicly. And makes us work on it.
3. If failure brings us back to square one then we have a clean slate to start with. Steve Jobs puts this beautifully in his (now legendary) Stanford Commencement Speech “…getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life…”
4. If a failure is followed by success then we not only celebrate it but also value it.
5. Failure makes us stronger and wiser.
