I was recently updating my Windows Vista (yes I still use Windows Vista, don’t ask why) and this is how it went.

If software engineers made movies they would be called with a slightly different name —
♦ Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar → Race condition
♦ Ghajini → Memory leak
♦ Chakravyuh → Recursion
Nobody likes failing. We hate it. We want to succeed both in our professional and personal lives. We want people to appreciate our success and close their eyes if we fail. But that seldom happens. But failures in life are inevitable and important. Yes failures are important. Here are my reasons —
1. If you are failing that means you are taking risks, doing something in which you are not good at. Which in turn means you are learning something new.
“There he is!” shouted one of the boys.
Navin was running from a group of five boys. He still remembered the savage beating he had got last year. He ran past his chemistry laboratory to the staircase and went to first floor of his college building. It was 7PM and there was no soul in sight from whom Navin could ask for help. He saw one of the classrooms open, ran inside it and hid behind the door.

Based on a true story.
Navin was standing behind a wall to avoid getting hit by gun fire which was coming in every 10-15 seconds. He was now the only surviving member of the elite four-member squad to eliminate a group of terrorists. So far this operation had turned out to be a disaster as three of his teammates had already perished.
Recently I started watching The Simpsons on Star World. Initially it was just for killing time I had before going to office but after some episodes I really started to enjoy it. And then some days back I saw an episode which has now become my favorite.
For those who don’t know what the show is about, here’s a gist— The Simpsons basically centers around five members of Simpsons family and their daily (hilarious) adventures. The family consists of Homer, his wife Marge, their son Bart and daughters Lisa and Maggie.

“Damn it! I never subscribed for this service.” Navin (that’s not me, notice the spelling) said holding his mobile bill. “These guys think that they can take me for a ride.” With this he punched in the complaint only number of Vodatel.
“Welcome to Vodatel. Vodatel me aapka swagat hai. Hindi ke liye ek dabayein. Marathi saathi don daabaa. For English press three.”
Navin pressed three.
Few days back Microsoft launched on Windows Phone 8 and its gorgeous devices like Nokia 920 & 820, HTC Windows Phone 8X & 8S (my personal favorite) and Samung Ativ S. The reviews of each of them have been very favorable except for one sore point — number of apps available for Windows Phone. Microsoft’s current tally is 100,000+ apps. This is far below in comparison to 700,000+ apps available on Android and iOS. But you may argue that are we going to use all 700,000+ apps? No, of course not. But there would be something for everyone.
Let me explain. I own HTC One X which runs Android. The phone’s industrial uni-body design and its gorgeous screen were two things that made me buy this phone over Samsung Galaxy S3. But one really troubling aspect with the phone is its battery life which pales in comparison to its competition. By default Android doesn’t show remaining percentage of battery life in notifications. So I was looking for an app to do just that. Just that! I did not want it to show (or rather try to estimate) how much more time can my phone run on battery and blah, blah, blah… And I found Battery Indicator which did exactly what I required. So as I said, with more number of apps there would be something for everyone.

I am going against conventional wisdom here and would earn wrath of almost everyone in this world. But I love Mondays and hate Fridays.
